GENERAL INFORMATION

Ruka is organizing an international competition,
LG Snowboard FIS World Cup Halfpipe.

This competition, for both women and men, will be held under FIS rules. At the Snowboard World Cup all national FIS-affiliated associations are invited to compete.

According to the international calendar of the FIS, the competition will take place 16th & 17th December 2011 and will follow the official program.

The Organizing Committee reserves the right to modify the timetable and the arranged place of the event depending on the snow conditions or on the decision of the jury.

Transportation

Closest airport is Kuusamo (25 km). There is a public bus transportation available from the airport to Ruka and back. Teams are required to pay their own bus transportation. The cost is around 10 € per person. Bus leaves after every flight and takes around 30 minutes to Ruka.

Bus to Kuusamo airport leaves 2 hours before each flight from the front of Rantasipi Hotel.

Other nearby airports are Oulu ( 200 km ) and Rovaniemi ( 200 km). No car is needed at Ruka, the hotels are located less than 500 meters from the ski lift. The half pipe is one chairlift away ( 5 minutes).
Teams are responsible for their own transportation.

SkiBus takes you FREE around Ruka when ski lifts are running if you have a valid ski lift ticket. SkiBus takes you from Kuusamo to Ruka and back from morning into late night.

Accommodation

The accommodation will be offered in apartment hotels. Each apartment accommodating 3 -4 persons, with 1 -2 persons /room. Each apartment is equipped with kitchen and sauna.

As per FIS rule on accommodation and half board, each participant will pay CHF 50.-/day/person, in euros directly to the race office at Ruka Village. Accommodation at the FIS rate will be provided only for the nights of 12th December to 18th December 2011 (6 nights).

Each team will be held responsible for any damage incurred during your stay. Any kind of extras have to be paid by the teams or athletes.

Also the parking fee has to be paid by the teams or athletes themselves. The full payment of the team has to be paid in advance at the registration at the race office)

All accommodation is located less than 500 meters from the ski lift to the competition venue.

Competition site

If you are staying at Ruka Village, you don’t need a car. With one lift ride away, you can ride to the halfpipe and this takes around 5 minutes with a lift. http://ski.ruka.fi/slopes/?id=107&submenu=149

Race Office

Team registration will start Monday, 12th December, at the Race Office.
You will find the Race Office in the building of the Ruka Village Appartment Hotel at the village square.

Press room

Press room is located at Ruka Village Appartment Hotel at the village square.

PISTE

All the dinners and after parties will be at PISTE which is located right in the middle of Western Ruka, on RukaPlaza next to Hotel Rantasipi Rukahovi. Piste is the center of action as soon as the lifts are open. This simply means: ski in - ski out!

There will be a ski room at Ski jump Stadium

Shoppin Center Kumpare

Grocery store, Gym, Bowling, Laundrette and Ruka info are located at Shopping Center Kumpare. Right next to info you will find four internet terminals or you can connect your lap top to web. There is also a WLAN connection.

RukaSuites Apartments and Kumpare Apartments are located under the roof of Shopping Center Kumpare.
